Association for new hope and ideas (ANHI)
The Association of New Hope and Ideas (Uuden kasvun yhdistys ry) is an association maintaining unit Selkikeskus (premises, see area map) in Vihti, southern Finland .
The association, grounded in 1981 as Uuden Kasvun Koti, later renamed to recent name and receiving it´s recent program in 1989, features a christian enviroment movement, and since the beginning containing a remarkable functionality also in third sector helping program.
Solutions for textil recycling have been an important aim for the founder and innovator of association Pauli Rantanen. The newest innovation, patented "textil turned to stone" (TexCem), given birth in 2004, is on it's way to reach a strong application phase. The association owns a company Uusi Voima Oy, for developing, testing and premilinary marketing of enviromental products, as well as so called intermediate technics products, for developing countries needs. Because we are a christian environment-orientated association, we want to develop and take in use such programs, technical solutions and products, which are helping the poor people under emergency situations and circumstances, also to help preventing pollution and damage to living environment of people.
There has been a series of major projects internationally so far, i.e. in Sarajevo (aid program with technical solutions, see “Sarajevo-cookers”), Uganda (wood planting/Vitalia Paradoxa plant oil program), Burkina Faso (water/energy program), Kenia, Ethiopia (water harvesting/health care) and some other activities in East Africa countries (Tanzania, catasthrophe help/education, school).
We arrange through rehabiliting program work for people suffering for instance alcoholic problems and for others being in danger of being outclassed from society. In the working program are included for instance building, carpenter, and repair shop work duties. The majority of participants are working with aid of social rehability- and combined social support, also there are volunteers included, which were the only labor used in the very beginning.
Selkikeskus is open for visitors and quests to present solutions and support our goals and visibility.
The working ideology of a Christian environment movement consists of gathering information, informing, making statements and creating co-operation network and such a R&D-activity, which gives us products to help preventing ruining the living circumstaces caused by pollution and our enviroment problems.
Our association is working also in co-operation with Sininauhaliitto , Katulähetysliitto, and some other major factors in third sector aid work.
Rihmankiertämä - second hand shops/flea markets are an important part of financing the ANHI functionality. There are four separate second hand shops under name Rihmankiertämä, additionally one supporting shop in Nummela. The largest one, Suurkirppis, is situated in Selki in hall areas of about 1100 m2.
